বায়োগ্রাফি : John William Polidori (7 September 1795 – 24 August 1821) was the writer of the first modern vampire story. He was associated with Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin. He was the eldest son of Gaetano Polidori an Italian scholar. He is related to Maria Francesca Rossetti, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Michael Rossetti, and Christina Georgina Rossetti though his sister Frances Polidori’s marriage to exiled Italian scholar Gabriele Rossetti. He went to Ampleforth College from 1804, and in 1810 went to the University of Edinburgh. He completed his degree as a doctor of medicine at the age of 19 in 1815 after writing his thesis on sleepwalking. He died at the age of 25 while suffering from severe depression and gambling debts. Despite strong evidence of suicide, it is said he died of natural causes.
